Why I Started Wrthit: My Journey to Post-Surgery Lymphatic Care

Wrthit began with a simple idea: knowing your worth can change the way you care for yourself—and the way you show up for others.
But that was something I had to learn for myself first.
For much of my life, I downplayed my abilities. I thought being humble meant making myself smaller so other people had more room to shine. Even after years of working as a massage therapist, teaching, and helping clients, I sometimes struggled to recognize the value of my own experience.
Eventually, I realized that minimizing what I had to offer wasn't helping anyone.
That realization became the beginning of Wrthit.
Where the Name “Wrthit” Came From
When I finally had a clear vision for the kind of business I wanted to create, I kept coming back to the same words. The detailed, compassionate work I provided was worth it. Investing in your body was worth it. Taking care of yourself was worth it.
One day, my husband said, “What about Wrthit?”Dropping the “o” made the name different, but the meaning was exactly what I had been trying to express. At first, the name made me uncomfortable. How could I build a business around knowing your worth when I was still learning to recognize my own? Then I realized that was exactly the point.
Wrthit wasn't going to be just another massage business. I wanted it to remind women that taking care of themselves isn't selfish or something they have to earn.
You are worth taking care of.
Why I Chose Post-Surgery Lymphatic Care
I've spent more than 30 years working in massage therapy. Throughout my career, I've worked in different areas of bodywork and have also had the privilege of teaching future massage therapists.
As Wrthit evolved, I knew I wanted to become much more focused. Again and again, I saw women navigating cosmetic surgery recovery without knowing where to turn for knowledgeable, gentle post-operative care. Post-surgery lymphatic drainage requires a very different approach from traditional massage. Healing tissue needs to be respected. Every procedure is different, every stage of recovery is different, and every client's body responds differently.
I knew that if this was going to become the focus of Wrthit, I wanted my education to reflect that responsibility. I pursued additional education in post-surgery lymphatic care and Brazilian lymphatic techniques and refreshed my training in Manual Lymphatic Drainage. That education, combined with decades of hands-on experience, ultimately shaped the way I approach post-surgical recovery today.
The Beginning of The Wrthit Way™
Over time, I realized there could never be one identical post-op protocol for every client. Someone recovering from liposuction may need something different from someone recovering from a tummy tuck, mommy makeover, BBL, breast procedure, or facial surgery. Even two people who have undergone the same procedure can have completely different experiences.
That became the foundation for what is now The Wrthit Way™.
Rather than treating recovery as a checklist, we look at the procedure, stage of healing, surgeon's recommendations, how the tissues are responding, and what the client needs at that particular point in recovery. The technique matters, but so does listening.
Today, that philosophy guides both my own work and the Wrthit therapists I personally train.
Why Wrthit Comes to You
I also knew I wanted Wrthit to provide mobile care.
After cosmetic surgery, getting into a car, navigating traffic, sitting comfortably, and traveling to yet another appointment can be difficult.
Bringing lymphatic drainage massage directly to a client's home allows her to receive care in a familiar environment without adding unnecessary travel to an already demanding recovery period.

More Than a Business
Giving back has always mattered to me, too.
Throughout my career, I've volunteered my time working with people affected by cancer and their families. That eventually led me to Michelle's Place, a cancer resource center in Temecula, where I have volunteered providing massage and lymphatic support.
Those experiences continually remind me that bodywork isn't only about technique.
Sometimes it's about creating a moment where someone feels cared for, heard, and supported during an incredibly vulnerable time.
That philosophy is woven into Wrthit as well.
What Wrthit Means Today
Wrthit has changed significantly since I first chose the name.
Today, I maintain a limited private client schedule while training and mentoring Wrthit therapists in The Wrthit Way™ so that more women can receive thoughtful, individualized post-surgery lymphatic care.
But the mission behind the name is still personal to me.
Wrthit was created because I had to learn something I now hope every client remembers:
Your body deserves thoughtful care.
Your recovery deserves to be taken seriously.
And taking care of yourself is worth it.
